Darrel W. Schmitz, President
A geologist with 30 years of experience. He is currently a Professor of Geology and Head of the Department of Geosciences at Mississippi State University. Schmitz is active in state, regional and national organizations including serving as the Past President of National Association of State Boards of Geology (ASBOG®) and the Association of Engineering Geologists (AEG), where he is a national Past-President. He is also active on many committees of Geological Society of America (GSA).
William Dixon, Secretary
A geologist with 50 years experience. He worked in private industry for several years before joining the Northeastern Illinois Office of the Illinois State Geological Survey working primarily on siting studies for a variety of projects. He currently works part-time for Practical Environmental Consultants, Inc. on underground storage tank sites. He is a licensed geologist in IL, IN, and WI. He was active in getting the Illinois licensing act passed, and served several years as Chairperson of the Board of Licensing. He is a long-time member of the Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists (AEG) and the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG). He has been active in ASBOG® since 1997 and served as President in 2007.
Rick L. Ericksen, Treasurer
A geologist with over 35 years experience. He has and continues to work in the oil and gas industry, as well as, the governmental sector - currently as Executive Director of the the Mississippi Board of Registered Professional Geologists. Rick is licensed/registered in Texas and Mississippi and was instrumental in getting legislation passed enacting the MS RPG law, served as the newly created board's first President and later as its first Executive Director. He is a long time member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and is a member of its three divisions having served most recently as President of the Division of Professional Affairs (DPA)and has also served on several committees of both the AAPG and the DPA.
Duane A. Eversoll, Director
A licensed geologist with 50 years of experience. A year as a geophysicist with Continental Geophysical Company , 14 years as a bridge geologist with Nebraska Department of Roads, 32 years as a research geologist with the Nebraska Geological Survey at the University of Nebraska, the last 3 years as a retired research geologist and Professor Emeriti. A registered geologist in Nebraska and Wyoming. Past President of ASBOG® and member of the Council of Examiners since 1994. Fellow of Geological Society of America (GSA). Past Chair Engineering Geology Division of GSA. Current research on "Landslides in Nebraska" and geology of Southwestern Nebraska.
Michael Kunz, Ex-Officio Member, Past President of ASBOG®
A geologist with over 20 years experience. He has and continues to work in the environmental/geological consulting area, working for private and government clients throughout the United States and abroad. Mike is licensed/registered in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and served 8 years on the Minnesota (multi-discipline licensure) Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience & Interior Design. He has been an active member of the ASBOG® organization since 1999, serving as a member of the Council of Examiners and on the Executive Committee. Mike served as ASBOG® President in 2010.
James M. Holloway, Ex-Officio Member
James M. Holloway, Jr., MBA, CPA. Thirty years practicing in the area of financial statement audits of SEC registrants, government enterprises and closely held businesses. Presently a sole practitioner, serving as an accounting advisor to several SC licensing commissions and a consultant to a university medical school. Volunteer in various community activities.
